When looking for a job, we all know a resume is the first step to getting prepared. If you’re like most people, you search over dozens of free websites with tips on how to write a resume or you go onto resume writers webpages and look at their samples or you might even head over to the library or local bookstore and view the samples written there.
Does this work? How effective is it to copy from a webpage or a book when trying to find a job? Is this the best way to sell yourself to a potential employer?
After speaking to numerous job seekers in New York, most will tell you no. Just like observing a teacher in the classroom won’t make you a good or even decent teacher, copying samples won’t ensure you have a good or even decent resume. Resume writers, just like teachers, have spent years developing their craft, are responsible for staying updated on their craft, and have learned little tips which might not appear so evident to a novice.
So how do you write a good resume? How can you ensure that your resume is the best document possible?
First make a list of your best attributes. Then figure out how you have contributed to the success of the companies you’ve worked. Thid, determine if your skills match what a company is seeking. Lastly, create a resume that is appealing to the eyes, have bullets, and is formatted in a way that makes sense.
If you are unsure of how your resume adds up or if you need help…you know where to find me.
As always, good luck with your job search.

You know how to use a computer. In fact, you found your last job from the Internet. So why on earth would you pay other people to create a resume for you? It just doesn’t make sense! Or does it?
Prior to becoming a professional resume writer, I would have agreed with you. In fact, prior to our current economy slanting closer and closer to a recession, I would have agreed with you. But a few things have changed, leading to you needing a slant over the competition.
- TIME LOST. If you look at any client who has ever worked with a professional resume writer, they will all tell you they saved time looking for their job. In fact, I had one client that had been looking for a job for 6 Months and within 2 days of sending out my newly revised resume, she received two interviews for companies she was actually interested in working at.
- IT’S A NUMBER’S GAME. Whenever the economy goes down, unemployment increases and so does (drum roll please) job searches. Yes, that means that if you thought finding a job was hard 5, 10, or even 15 years ago, its a lot harder now because employers have OPTIONS. Who will they choose? Someone who makes their qualifications immediately noticeable or someone who expects the employer to go through a treasure hunt seeking skills he/she needs? How do you know if your resume does the job? Hire a professional resume writer of course!
- GUARANTEES. Every professional resume writing business that includes certified resume writers includes a guarantee. Either you get a free rewrite of your resume or you get your money back. In other words, you have absolutely nothing to lose when hiring a professional resume writer.
So why are you still reading this? Go out and find a professional resume writer that will save you time and money while helping to build your career to the next level.
Good Luck!

Looking for a job is a job in itself. You have to select a niche and then market, market, market. Your resume is your marketing tool. Many people over use their marketing tool and act like the novice fishermen casting out a wide net hoping to catch a fish. However, expert fishermen will tell you that while this approach might work, it is not the most effective approach. If you want to catch the best fish, you go to the place where you can find the best fish and keep working the area. Eventually, the fish will come to you and you will be happy.
So how are you conducting your job search? Are you applying for every single job that comes your way without asking if this is really the position or company you want? Or are you sacredly holding on to your resume as if it is the most important paper you have and only sending it out to those who are worthy?
While I know unemployment is a scary time and you can’t wait to know when your next paycheck will come, perseverance, targeting a few specific companies and following up will lead to much better results and to more job offers.
As always, good luck with your job search.
Sincerely,
Ayesha Long

When writing your resume, always ask, “Who am I?” When you know who you are, you can write a resume that will be unique from every other employee that is sending out templated resumes or who have just copied resume samples from the Internet. You need to stand out from the crowd – that is if you want to shorten your job search time and actually get called in for interviews.
The key is to be different. Look at it from the point of view of employers. They read over thousands of resumes looking for only one applicant for one position. So if they’re reading the same resume styles with the same overused terms and words, then those standard resumes will stay in the larger group of uninterviewed, non-hired employees.
So do you want to follow the crowd? Or do you dare to be different and trust that you have unique qualities that should stand out in a professional resume?
If you have more questions, you know where to find me.
Until then…good luck with your job search.

CraigsList, famous for its free and easy access to local jobs, events, and services, is often one of the first places local job searchers look to see if there are postings in their immediate area. One of the best reasons stated by residents in Brooklyn is that when they send their resume out, they have all the necessary information to follow up. They know who to call, the contact person’s name and the company’s name, which they can google to learn more. Another great thing about Craigslist ads is that often when you call to learn more about a job, you get called in immediately for an interview!
This seems to be one of the most accessible ways to conduct a job search. However, do not be overly optimistic and do not rely on CaigsList ONLY when doing your job search. Be sure to also network, check other classified postings in newspapers and magazines, register for the internet job banks and try unemployment agencies or head hunters. Also, if you’re brave enough, try calling a company directly to learn more about any openings or positions available.
As always, good luck with your job search.
